My Approach
I utilize an eclectic and supportive approach to therapy. People are complex and one approach doesn’t work for everyone. Therapy is most successful when it's a collaborative effort from both the client and therapist. It’s hard work and can sometimes bring up memories or feelings that have been buried for a long time. I enjoy insight-oriented work balanced with practical tools for the change you desire. Though my approach is eclectic, my roots are in attachment and systems theory as a framework for understanding people in relation to one another. In general, I enjoy helping clients improve their emotional capacity, embrace imperfection and improve self-compassion.
These are some of the modalities/tools I typically use in my work:

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). EMDR is an approach to treating trauma that strives to reprocess and restore distressing memories in order to reduce disturbance to the client. Memories cannot be forgotten but they do not have to rule your life. EMDR is alternative to talk therapy that helps people reprocess memories that are stored in the body. Further information about EMDR can be found at EMDR.com.
